Topic: Introduction to Mechanical Engineering Design and Manufacturing with fusion 360
Date: March 21th, 2023
Syllabus
W1 – The future of manufacturing and innovation
W2 – Introduction to CAD sketching and modeling
W3 – Introduction to assemblies, animations, renders, and detailed drawings
W4 – Introduction to CAM & CAE
Summary:
Over the course of 4 weeks, I used a program called fusion 360 and learned how to design and create a 3D model using that program. I also learned the different functionalities and methods that can be used to create a 3D model of an object. By following the instructions and watching the videos daily, I gained a huge insight into how 3D modeling is done and how engineers around the world use this technology to create their products. I started off by making a simple rectangular object and went on to design levers, screws, and even more complex objects such as mechanical joints. Then, I applied some stress tests and simulations on my models which was an interesting experience as well.
After completing this course, I feel like I have taken another step in not just learning more about 3D modeling but also about what mechanical engineers and engineers in general do and the tools they use daily – although what I did will have been just scratching the surface. Overall, it was another good experience I had in learning something new
