Summary:
In this coursera course, I went over the basics of algebra and functions as I will be going to be learning AP Calculus BC in 11th grade and will be taking university level calculus courses in Coursera. It was a very interesting course and as I was taking this course, I was very excited that I was taking a course offered by Johns Hopkins University and although this course is simply about basic algebra, it was fun learning about this and deepening my understanding of the fundamental concepts of math before diving into calculus.
During this course, I did face a few difficulties with the vocabulary as I have gone over most of the mathematics that I know in Korean so learning the new vocabulary and how things are used in curriculums outside of Korea was a both a challenge and a factor that made this course even more interesting.
I decided to take this course over the other courses offered by Coursera because when I went over the syllabuses of the other courses, I determined that, although the other courses are also of high quality, this course would be the most assistive in helping me recall my memory of some math concepts and pepare me for AP Cal BC.
I am also thinking of taking the follow-up courses for this course, also offered by Johns Hopkins, which further illustrate the topics and concepts taught in this course and I am very excited to be taking those courses.
