Topic: Approaching 12th Grade

As I now face the final year of my high school life, there is ambivalence in my emotions. In some ways, I’m happy that this is my final year of high school, but, in earnest, perhaps I’m not prepared for life outside of high school. Regardless, as the saying goes, “the dog keeps barking, but the train’s still going.” It’s just a natural flow of life, and no matter what I say about it, it’s going to happen.

So, as I sit here during the summer break between junior and senior year, reflecting on everything that has brought me to this point, I realize that this year will be a defining one. It’s not just about grades, college applications, or final exams—it’s about making the most of every opportunity before this chapter closes.

Here are my promises—my mindset—for 12th grade:

1. Savor each Moment

2. Push My Limits

3. Balance Work and Play

4. Prepare for the Future, But Don’t Fear It

5. Stay True to Who I Am

This year will most certainly be a challenge — perhaps the most challeging year of my life — but I’m ready to face it. The train is moving forward, and I’ll make sure that, when I finally step off at the next station, I do so with no regrets.
