After participating as the Delegate of France in the previous iteration of our school’s annual Model United Nations conference, it was an honor to serve as the Assistant Secretary General of the Department of Finance in DalMUN X. My main duty was to make sure that we were well within our given budget and that all necessary equipment and materials were ready for the event. Initially, we had a few conflicts of what and where to buy, and if we should even buy it in the first place. Eventually, we were able to overcome issues that occurred both prior to and during the conference.

One major issue that we had was dinner on the second day arrived 40 minutes late than expected. The entire secretariat team had to act together to make necessary adjustments so that the event would still flow smoothy. We eventually got on top of all issues, distributed the food and the crisis was resolved.

It was a very tiring experience overall with me recording over 25,000 steps each day during the three-day event. Still, I enjoyed every moment of it as I saw the chairs, staffs, and delegates all fulfill their responsibilities. It was a truly valuable experience to which I learned a lot from.
